We believe nature can help support mental and physical wellbeing.

Nourish Kernow CIC offers a peaceful environment where people can reconnect with the outdoors, enjoy hands-on activities, and benefit from its therapeutic effects.

Through care farm activities, educational programmes and volunteering, we provide opportunities for individuals to improve their wellbeing, reduce isolation, and develop a sense of purpose – connecting them to the earth.

Whether it’s through growing food, being part of a community, or just enjoying nature, our focus is on enhancing overall wellbeing for everyone involved.

Care farming

Our Care Farm provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals who can benefit from extra support through nature-based activities.

As a CEVAS-accredited care farm, led by a qualified teacher, we offer tailored programmes that build confidence, teach practical skills, and support mental and physical wellbeing. Whether you’re a social prescriber, care provider or other organiser looking for therapeutic activities, our activities can provide a range of opportunities suited to different needs and abilities.

Working closely with NHS providers, schools, local authorities, and social prescribing services, we offer meaningful experiences for individuals with special needs, mental health challenges, or those at risk of social isolation. Activities are designed to engage participants in ways that align with their interests and strengths, ensuring that everyone feels supported and valued.

Farming and Growing

  • Our productive polytunnel allows us to grow vegetables that thrive in a controlled environment, extending learning opportunities in horticulture.

  • Chickens provide fresh eggs, and we welcome rare-breed pigs during the summer, offering opportunities for interaction and animal care.

  • Featuring local heritage apple varieties, our orchard and coppicing areas connect participants to Cornwall’s local agricultural heritage.

Space in nature

  • Native woodland and nature-rich areas: With over 1,500 native trees planted with the help of volunteers in 2021, the wider site boasts diverse habitats including woodland, wet grassland, meadows, scrubland, glades, Cornish hedgerows, and ancient pathways which can form part of the experience.

  • Riverside rest: A tranquil stream flows past our site, with a glade offering a peaceful setting for reflection and connection with nature. Can you spot the heron or a kingfisher?

  • Rich biodiversity: Our land is home to many species, including bats, badgers, hares, owls, hedgehogs and rare butterflies, plus a plethora of insects – providing ample opportunities for wildlife observation, citizen science and nature-based activities.

  • Outdoor volunteering and habitat management: There are numerous opportunities for participants to engage in outdoor work, from habitat management and surveys to nature-focused projects that support wellbeing through connection to the land. Developed in partnership with TEVI, our habitat management plan carefully maintains wild spaces to enhance biodiversity and promote environmental stewardship.

Our site provides a supportive, nature-connected environment that enriches mental and physical wellbeing in those who we share it with.
